The virtual home of The Laboratory of Molecular and Behavioural Neuroscience
Welcome to the virtual home of The Laboratory of Molecular and Behavioural Neuroscience. Here you can find information about the research we do, the people who do it, and current opportunities to join our group.
We are interested in exploring the neural, neurochemical and molecular basis of higher-order cognitive processes such as impulse control and gambling. A better understanding of the biological mechanisms underpinning these processes will lead to new and improved treatments for psychiatric disorders such as attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, bipolar disorder, personality disorders and drug addiction, all of which are associated with deficits in impulse control.
Our work combines molecular biology techniques with neuropsychopharmacology and cognitive behavioural testing in rodents.
Prospective graduate students are encouraged to contact Dr. Winstanley with their resume, indicating the kind of research they are interested in pursuing. We are happy to accept students through either the Graduate Program in Psychology or the Graduate Program in Neuroscience.
